LSS is one year old this month!
Dear friends,
A year ago, I decided I was tired of missing my old newsletter at Governing magazine where I could dive into topics that mattered and do so on a weekly basis. I’d been writing for a few places about the pandemic, federal funding and other big issues, but darn it I still wished I had a more regular place to verbally geek out about policy.
When the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed, that was the final straw. There was too much going on and I wanted an outlet to write about it. Plus, I’d already sketched out a newsletter concept with a GREAT name months ago. So I somewhat impulsively took the jump, launched this newsletter and started diving into the IIJA.
Then I looked up and a year had gone by! What?!?!?
I didn’t know how long this little project would last but, quite frankly, I was skeptical that it would be worth my time. I thought I’d give it six months then probably end up shutting it down.
Obviously—and BECAUSE OF YOU—I’m still here, writing about what’s top of mind for me in the world of fiscal policy in any given week. I’ve been so humbled by the support and shoutouts I’ve received from people I truly admire and by the fact that most of you actually do read my emails every week (thank you,
stats). So to all of you, THANK YOU. You being here helps keep this thing going!
